Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety is a regular human experience. We tend to describe anxiety as a sense of dread, a continuous cycle of worry and fear of what might happen to us or our loved ones. Combining both emotions and physical sensations when facing stressful events and uncertainty, anxiety is an evolutionary, biological response to threatening situations.
Nonetheless, anxiety can become a problem for us and can affect our ability to live our lives the way we would like to. Perhaps panic attacks and phobias are causing us to avoid certain places or situations, or making us feel that we lack control over our lives.Or perhaps we struggle with OCD intrusive thoughts and their demanding symptoms.
After experiencing a traumatic life event, our normal biological reaction is to feel threatened and the accompanying symptoms can be overwhelming. Individually, we struggle to work through previous trauma that could allow us to reclaim our life.
Together however, online or face to face therapy can help us to find a way forward, by understanding the elements that drive the anxiety and learning how to manage these uncomfortable emotions so we can focus on what really matters to us.
